As part of the Painted Blind blog tour, I was asked to put together a dream cast for the novel. I worked on it for a few days, and finally sent my photo compilation to my teenage nieces to make sure I wasn’t being too uncool, if you know what I mean.
However, with all the publicity blogs are getting over unauthorized use of photos and bloggers getting sued over photos, I was concerned about the post. I wouldn’t post it here because I don’t have authorization to post the photos, and I was equally concerned about a book blogger taking on that liability. In the end, we didn’t use the post. However, I did want the fans of Painted Blind to see it. So, today I am going to link you up with all the photos I found that I thought looked like the characters in Painted Blind.
Ron Middleton, Psyche’s father: I always imagined Ron Middleton being ruggedly gorgeous, the heartthrob now in his forties raising a daughter who inherited his good looks.
Psyche Middleton: The first time the discussion of “who should play this character” came up months ago, my husband said Blake Lively. I didn’t know who she was, but he was spot on. When I saw a photo of her, I agreed that she captures the look I always imagined for Psyche.
Savannah Schofield, Psyche’s best friend: Brittany Snow captures Savannah’s personality and her looks. She could easily run a small-town high school with that smile.
Aeas, Erik’s loyal friend: This was a tough one for me. So many pictures of Alex Pettyfer show him with darker hair and a five o’clock shadow. This photo of Alex captures the look of Aeas perfectly.
Erik’s controlling mother: This character requires timeless beauty with stern edge. Someone who can look angelic one moment and devious the next. Gwenyth Paltrow would be a good actress for this role.
Theron: He’s dreamy on the outside and ruthless on the inside. He can be a romantic lover, then turn into a ruthless killer. He has that sun-kissed look of perfection, easily able to draw women to him. Paul Walker could totally pull that off.
Titus: Titus is one of my favorite characters in the novel, so it was hard to choose a face for him. Titus is fun-loving, trust-worthy and strong. Jesse Metcalfe is a good match for Titus because I can imagine him climbing the cliffs at the Fortress and belting out an opera while standing on a glacier.
Thomas: While I was looking for photos of Titus, I found Thomas. This photo of Sean Faris was such a good match for the character, it gave me shivers.
And, last but not least….
Erik: Is it just me, or does Jensen Ackles always have a mischievous glint in his eyes? I can imagine him dusting an entire wedding party just for the fun of it. I can imagine him being overbearing and harsh when he feels betrayed. At the same time I can imagine him being overprotective and vengeful when someone hurts the girl he loves. I think he would be great in the role of Erik.
What do you think? Is this how you pictured the characters? I would love to hear your feedback.

10 Sep 2012Dream casts are always fun. I have trouble finding actors to match my characters, so I really admire author who can do this.

13 Sep 2012I was hesitant to do it because I knew that every reader would have her own picture of the characters, but then I kind of got into it and I had fun.
