Tonight is the Launch Party & Book Signing at the Richland Public Library, from 7-8 p.m. My dad just called to say that it was on the news this morning.
I was up late last night trying to gather my thoughts. Unlike my last signing, which was very informal, I am speaking at this one. I realized last night that the only time I have heard authors speak, it was to audiences of writers. What do I say at an event like this?
I decided to talk a little bit about my journey as an author, read an excerpt from the book and some promo text, then answer questions. The really important part of my presentation will be drawing door prizes, right? Everyone likes prizes.
The scariest thing for me is numbers. I have no idea how many people to expect. I am afraid no one will come, and I am afraid I will run out of books. Oh, the uncertainty!
I am lucky I have my voice back. This weekend I was so sick I ended up in the urgent care center. Now I have good antibiotics, a voice and a healthy case of new-author butterflies. It’s noon. I think it’s going to be a long seven hours.
